Trollz: Hair Affair (Game Boy Advance)

Trollz: Hair Affair was a minigame collection with a really cool story component. The five Trollz girls—Amethyst, Ruby, Sapphire, Onyx, and Topaz—had to save the boys in their class from being sent to military school and having their hair cut off (!!!) by going back in time to stop the evil Simon from doing ... something evil. This was the first game to use Powerhead's ubiquitous Menu System, which was used in every single GBA and DS game since (and was ported to XNA for Glow Artisan for Windows Phone 7).

Role Lead Artist

Trollz: Hair Affair consists of one mini game for each character. A side scrolling shooter, dance rhythm game, a memory game, puzzle bobble clone, and a "hair untangling" game that plays a bit like Donkey Kong Jr. I had a hand in each of these games as I was working with one other artist. I handled all 3D character assets, almost all 2D sprite animations and background art, almost all in game UI and sprite graphics as well. We had a good schedule for this game. I had lots of time to polish it and to this day I still find the game fun to play.

Trollz: Hair Affair was developed by Powerhead Games and published by Ubisoft.
